A2P 10DLC

What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P 10DLC is a system in the United States that enables businesses to use services like DiaryBook to send SMS messages to phone numbers via standard 10-digit long codes (10DLC). A2P stands for Application-to-Person and refers to the fact that it is DiaryBook sending the messages and not a person.

There are two requirements under the new system.

  • Businesses need to identify who they are to the carrier networks (company registration).
  • Businesses need to register what type of messages they are sending (messaging registration).

Using DiaryBook you can freely register your business for A2P 10DLC messaging within minutes. This can be done under our new Trust Center under the messaging menu. Once registered your messaging will experience higher deliverability and faster throughput.

What do I need to do?

If you do not use DiaryBook in the US then you are not affected and you don't have to do anything.

If you are currently sending messages in the US you will need to register for A2P 10DLC. This can be done in DiaryBook's Trust Centre in your portal. In addition, if you currently do not have a subscription to a unique Reply Number then you will have to search for your ideal number in your location and subscribe.

What is Trust Center?

DiaryBook's Trust Center is a utility for DiaryBook users in the US to register for A2P 10DLC.

Company Registration

You will need to provide the company name and address and the contact details of a nominated representative of the company. The details must be accurate and publicly verifiable.

Messaging Registration

You will need to describe the type of messages that your company sends. For example: Our company repairs boilers and we want to send appointment reminders to our customers.

In addition you will have to supply 2 sample messages of the type you intend to send. This helps the carrier networks identify that your sms messages are genuine.
