# Waiting time bands

## Why this matters

National waiting list returns, including the NTPF figures published for Irish hospitals, report
how many people have waited in each three-month band. This report produces those counts for every
list, so the return can be filled in directly from Diarybook.

## Options

If you leave **Status** empty, the report includes every client still on the list: **Awaiting
Triage**, **Waiting**, **Waiting and Scheduled**, **Scheduled for Review** and **Suspended**.

## What it contains

One row per waiting list, with an **All Lists** total row at the end. Each client is counted in
one band by how long they have been waiting:

| Band | Days waiting |
|---|---|
| 0-3 months | 0 to 91 |
| 3-6 months | 92 to 182 |
| 6-9 months | 183 to 273 |
| 9-12 months | 274 to 365 |
| 12-15 months | 366 to 456 |
| 15-18 months | 457 to 547 |
| 18+ months | 548 or more |

The **Total** column is the number of clients on the list.

The CSV file has the columns **List**, one column per band, and **Total**.

## What to watch for

**Suspended clients are included**
The default includes **Suspended**, because a suspended client is still on the list. If your
return excludes suspensions, set **Status** to the four other active statuses.

**A review patient is in a lower band than expected**
Waiting time for an entry with a **Last Attended Date** counts from that date, not the join date.

**Counts are lower than the list itself shows**
Unless you have **Can view All Appointments**, the report only includes entries with an assigned
user. See [Running Reports](/docs/reporting/running-reports/#before-you-start).
