# Status summary

## Why this matters

The Status Summary is the quickest answer to "how many clients are waiting?". It counts the
clients in each status, so you can quote demand (Awaiting Triage and Waiting) separately from
clients who already have a date.

## Options

| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Formats | View, CSV, PDF |
| Dates | None: the report shows the lists as they are now |
| Filters | **Users** (the users assigned to the entry), **Waiting Lists**, **Status**, **Priority**, **Locations** |
{.table}

See [Running Reports](/docs/reporting/running-reports/) for the steps.

## What it contains

The report shows the number of **Patients** at the top, then a table with one row per status:
**Awaiting Triage**, **Waiting**, **Waiting and Scheduled**, **Scheduled for Review**,
**Attended**, **Suspended** and **Removed**. Each row gives the number of **Patients**, and a
**Total** row closes the table. A **No Status** row appears if any entries have no status.

The CSV file has the columns **Status** and **Patients**.

## What to watch for

**The total is far larger than the list**
With **Status** left empty, the count includes **Attended** and **Removed** entries. Read the
figures you need from their rows, or select only the active statuses in **Status**. See
[What the statuses count](/docs/waiting-lists/status-and-suspensions/#what-the-statuses-count).

**Counts are lower than the list itself shows**
Unless you have **Can view All Appointments**, the report only includes entries with an assigned
user. See [Running Reports](/docs/reporting/running-reports/#before-you-start).
